This school, in the form of a set of keynotes on languages for high-performance computing, will be given at Résidence Villemanzy, a renovated monastery in the center of Lyon, close to the “Place des Terreaux”, on the side of the Croix-Rousse hill. In addition to seminar facilities (seminar room, space for coffee breaks and buffers, WIFI everywhere), the Résidence Villemanzy offers lodging facilities in the form of studios with kitchenettes, a very convenient solution for people short in budget and who prefer, in particular, to have dinners in their rooms (lunches are provided for participants as part of the event, but not dinners). Financial support will be available to reduce the cost of lodging at the Résidence Villemanzy, especially for PhD students.
For people who prefer to not stay at the Résidence Villemanzy, or if it is already full, there are plenty of hotels nearby, in Vieux Lyon, in the Presqu’île (the part between the two rivers, the Saône and the Rhône), near Part-Dieu, etc. Lyon has also a convenient network of buses and a subway (Métro Terreaux is 5 minutes walk from Résidence Villemanzy), therefore hotels in any other area of Lyon can be chosen as well.
To get to Lyon from abroad by plane, the easiest is often to flight to Paris (Aéroport Roissy Charles de Gaulle) and to take the direct TGV (fast train) to Lyon Part-Dieu station (2 hours). It is also possible to get flight connections directly to Lyon (Aéroport St Exupéry), then to take the Rhônexpress express tram to Lyon Part-Dieu station (30 minutes). If you don’t find any suitable flight connections to Paris or Lyon, you may find interesting flights to Geneva, then take the train from Geneva airport to Lyon.
